Milka Djordjevich is a choreographer, performer and educator whose work questions preconceived notions of what dance should or should not be. They most recently published an artist book with Kima Press titled “Butterfly Impressions.” A long time supporter of artist-run spaces, Butrle has hosted exhibitions in a 2” by 4” tattooed rectangle on their left forearm since 2007, and is the managing director of Human Resources Los Angeles. Their work has been included in group exhibitions at Kurimanzuto, Mexico City Craft Contemporary, Los Angeles the Benton Museum at Pomona College and Jack’s Flat, Berlin among others. They have held solo exhibitions at Salon Silicon, Mexico City Visitor Welcome Center, Los Angeles Clifton Benevento, New York and the Armory Art Center, Passadena. Butrle holds an MFA from the University of California, Riverside and a BFA from California Institute of the Arts. Known for a social and collaborative practice that ranges from sending postcard art, to organizing Eagle Rock Community Soup, to hosting a weekly show on KCHUNG Radio, they regularly engage communities in processes that encourage the fostering of support structures. John Butrle is a Los Angeles-based artist who works in performance, public art, sculpture, and broadcast media.
